An Amorous History of Shanghai and Hong Kong Cinema

On the opening weekend of Hong Kong, Shanghai: Cinema Cities, a film forum will explore filmmaking in Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s, early filmmakers and stars, the movement of key actors and filmmakers between Shanghai and Hong Kong, and the project to preserve the extraordinary history of Chinese cinema. Presentations by Zhang Jianyong, Vice Director, and Chen Biqiang, Research Fellow, China Film Archive; Marie-Claire Quiquemelle, Centre de Documentation du Cinema Chinois; and Professor Mary Farquhar, Griffith University.
