Lives and works in Beijing, China

Shen Xiaomin has been successfully making documentaries in China and exhibiting internationally since the late 1990s, when his work Walking and Singing (1998) won the China Journalism Award. In 2000, he was awarded the Best Director Award in the China Independent Film Contest for The Eulogy of Longjiang River (2000).This work was subsequently included in ‘Cities on the Move – First Chinese Independent Video Exhibition’ held in Beijing.

Shen Xiaomin graduated from the Beijing Film Academy in 2002, the same year he joined the Long March Project. His documentary The Village Cameraman and His Son (2001) was shown at the Art in Motion Festival,  University of Southern California, in 2005; and also at 'A Second Sight: Prague Biennale 2', National Gallery Prague, Czech Republic, in 2005.
